Have you ever traveled to a vacation spot and felt that pang of envy? You know, that “I could totally do this full time” feeling.
Once many years ago, while still living in Phoenix, Rebecca & I were on a weekend getaway in Del Mar. While having breakfast on the patio of our hotel, a jogger cruised by. We looked at each other and knew exactly what the other was thinking. “Wouldn’t it be nice?”
In this edition of Neighborhood Spotlight, we’re going to talk about Seabridge, a picturesque, marina-focused community that could spark the envy of any visitor. As an extension of Channel Islands Harbor and adjacent to Oxnard’s beautiful beaches, this 135-acre master-planned community has much to offer anyone looking for an active, upscale lifestyle.
At the heart of this community and located on its two islands are 249 single-family homes, including 87 on the waterfront, that come with private boat docks. These three and 4-bedroom homes are elegantly appointed and, having been built between 2006 and 2009, are relatively new for the area. All are inside the security gates, so only homeowners and their guests will be traveling your streets here at Seabridge. There are miles of walkways throughout the Seabridge community, and all are adjacent to the waterways. Along the way, you will find exercise stations, or if you are just out to enjoy the sunshine, waterside parks, and sitting areas.
There are townhomes, work-live, and condominium communities, each with their own individual amenities and all part of the master community. The two condominium communities are unique in that they feature sizeable single-level floor plans, many of which offer spectacular views of the waterways.
Though the focus of Seabridge is on its waterways, the centerpiece is probably its gorgeous 6300 square foot clubhouse. All Seabridge homeowners can enjoy this beautiful facility that comes with banquet accommodations, a library reading room, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, an outdoor BBQ area, a fitness center, and a year-round heated pool and spa.
But in the end, Seabridge is marina-focused. Even though most of its homes, townhomes, and condominiums do not have private boat docks, the community has a beautiful public marina. So, no matter where you live, your boat is always in the water, ready to go, and within walking distance of your home. Like the idea of being on the water but not comfortable being out on the open ocean? The expansion of Channel Islands Harbor that resulted from Seabridge and its neighboring development, Westport, has added a whole new dimension to “harbor cruising.” Sales of the electric harbor cruisers jumped exponentially with the addition of these waterways, and now you can get to your favorite restaurant or even do your grocery shopping without taking the car.
Across the bridges the shops, vendors, and restaurants situated along the waterfront are all a part of the original masterplan to complete this bold undertaking that began back in 2006. In 2007, at the end of the initial phase of the development, Seabridge won the National Award for Best Master Planned Community of the Year. And why not? This idyllic community located along the beautiful California Coast offers an exquisite marina-based lifestyle that begs you to come out and play.
Our tagline is “Come Live Your Best Life.” We say that because that is what we chose to do soon after watching that jogger pass by back on that morning in Del Mar. Not every lifestyle is for every person, but everyone we have met has either found their place or is looking for it. The question is – if the opportunity presents itself, will you take it?
