When it comes to dining, and to the annoyance of some of our friends, Rebecca & I are creatures of habit. Once we find something we like, we go back – repeatedly. For me in particular, a qualifying dining experience starts with a specific item on the menu that I like along with two additional requirements. A nice comfortable atmosphere and good service. The latest addition to our rotation is the Raven Tavern at Seabridge right here in Oxnard.
For us, how the Raven Tavern satisfies all three of our conditions is its happy hour menu, the patio seating, and of course, the good service. But when you think of a “tavern” you think of food and drink, music, and dancing, and the Raven is all of that.
The Raven Tavern is a modern American restaurant/bar with English and Irish routes that ultimately migrated to New England, where it began its expansion into the western U.S. Its newest location is right here in Oxnard adjacent to Seabridge Marina at Channel Islands Harbor. While our interest in The Raven is limited to their happy hour, this place has become a new hit amongst the locals, offering a wide variety of food, drink, and entertainment.
Limited by our vegetarian status, we can only speak to small parts of the menu, but at first look it is impressive. And the place is rife with entertainment. They have live music Fridays and Saturdays, and though their hours vary, they are open on time for the first football game on Sunday morning and will have the TVs on for those Sunday, Monday, and Thursday night games as well. Along with the game on Sunday Morning, or not, you can enjoy their Sunday Brunch from 9:00-1:00 pm.
But for us, it’s something good to eat, good service, and location, location, location during their happy hour from 2:00-6:00 pm, Monday-Thursday. The menu is limited but their hand pies are available and to die for. The service is always great and though there is indoor seating, we love the outdoor harborside patio on a beautiful sunny afternoon.
If you haven’t tried The Raven Tavern at Seabridge here in Oxnard, we encourage you to give it a try.
